The Eleven - earliest known AUD recording of this tune on LMA. I'm posting about The Eleven because today is 9/11. The Forums are malfunctioning. It's very scary.

When I listened to The Dark Star is snappy. It is up-tempo and beautiful. Some "explosions" go off due to what sounds like someone smashing into a reverb unit on stage. Very scary! Dark Star goes into China Cat Sunflower. You'll hear some interesting vocal-chanting performed by the boys in this Lovelight. The Spanish Jam gets pretty scary.

We have our very own Sky Dawg - a.k.a. jerkwaterdan - setting up the mood for this show —

Subject: Scary Times
I just want to add a historical perspective to this recording...
This show was played during turbulent times. The Tet Offensive in Vietnam was playing out along with "the most trusted newsman in America," Walter Cronkite, declaring the war a "stalemate." The night after this show was played President Johnson shocked the Nation by announcing at the end of a speech about Vietnam on national TV that he would not seek reelection as President. Just five days later Martin Luther King was murdered, followed by Bobby Kennedy a couple of months later. This was a truly ugly time. This is scary music played during a scary time.

I'll certainly have to revisit this thread sometime when it's not 6:45 am and I've been up all night. I'm a night owl who usually stays up this late, but it's a bit of a rediculous time for me to be rambling too much on here.

Strange days indeed, but the music continued to play and helped us get by and break on through to the other side.
